TREASURECUT
On-device video editor for Mac

Find the story in your footage.

Give TreasureCut a few videos and one clear thought. It watches them on your Mac, picks the moments that matter, and hands you a finished cut. Then you tell it what to change, in plain words.

quick questions

What you want, how long, who it's for, and which way up. Then it gets to work.

0

uploads

Watching, planning, and editing all happen on your Mac. Your footage never goes to a server.

1

file to keep

The video you save carries its own project inside it. Notes, decisions, and every version.

How it works

Videos in. Finished cut out.

No timeline to learn and no clips to drag. You bring the footage and say what you want. TreasureCut does the watching, the choosing, and the cutting.

01

Choose your videos

Pick up to 20 clips from a trip, a shoot, or a long interview. TreasureCut copies them in and leaves your originals exactly as they were.

02

Answer four questions

What video do you want? How long? Who is it for? Vertical or horizontal? Skip any of them and it makes a sensible guess.

03

Watch the first cut

It watches every clip, picks the moments that tell the story, and puts them in order. Add a song if you want one under it.

Review

Edit together. Just say it.

The first cut is a starting point. You watch it, you say what's off, and TreasureCut makes the next version. It's a conversation, not a control panel.

  • Say it like you'd say it to an editor. “Make the dock jump last a beat longer. Add clean captions.” It answers with a numbered plan before it changes anything.
  • Swap any shot. Don't like a moment? Pick a different one. TreasureCut keeps the timing and frames it for you.
  • Every version is kept. Version 2 doesn't erase version 1. Flip back whenever you want.
Inside the file

The MOV file is the project.

Most editors give you a project file, a media folder, and a render. TreasureCut gives you one video. The project, your notes, its decisions, and every version are stored inside it.

  • It travels in one piece. Copy the video to another Mac and its history comes along. There is no project file to keep next to it.
  • It plays anywhere. It's a normal QuickTime movie. Open it in QuickTime Player, drop it in a message, post it.
  • Small edits don't touch the picture. Trims, reorders, captions, and chapters are saved as instructions in the file. The picture and sound are not recompressed, so quality doesn't wear down with each change.
What it understands

It watches like an editor would.

Before it cuts anything, TreasureCut looks and listens. What it learns is saved with the video, so the next edit starts smarter than the last one.

Who's talking, who's on screen

It tells speakers apart and matches each voice to a face. It never guesses a name. You tell it who someone is once, and that name shows up in the transcript and the captions.

Every word that was said

Speech becomes a transcript you can search and correct. Turn it into captions in your own font and colors, placed where they stay clear of the action.

The look of the shot

Match the color between two cameras, fix a bad white balance, or turn a wide shot into a vertical one while it keeps the person in frame.

The part that matters

Nothing leaves your Mac.

Your footage is yours. Family videos, client work, the interview that isn't out yet. TreasureCut has no account to sign into, and your videos, transcripts, and notes are never sent to a server.

The AI runs on your Mac

A Gemma model on your own machine watches the footage and plans the edit. There is no cloud version for it to fall back to.

So does the listening

Transcripts come from the speech recognition built into your Mac. Your audio is not sent anywhere to be written down.

One download, one time

The only thing TreasureCut fetches is the AI model itself, about 2.6 GB. After that, editing does not need the internet.

Command line and agents

Built for agents too.

The installer also puts a treasurecut command on your Mac. It runs the same engine as the app, so a script or an AI coding agent can do everything you can do by hand.

  • Same engine, same results. Every command in the terminal runs the same code the app runs.
  • Safe to automate. Commands answer in JSON, offer a dry run before they change a file, and ask for confirmation before anything that renders.
  • It teaches your agent. One command installs a skill so your AI coding tools know how to drive it.
# Watch a video and store what it learned inside the file
$ treasurecut describe interview.mov --embed --json

# Find a moment by what was said
$ treasurecut search interview.mov "cybersecurity community"

# Ask for an edit in plain words
$ treasurecut auto "90 second highlight about community" \
    --sources interview.mov --output highlight.mov

# Prove the result plays
$ treasurecut verify highlight.mov --json

# Teach your AI coding tools how to drive it
$ treasurecut skills adopt
Fair questions

Straight answers.

Does it change my original videos?

No. TreasureCut copies the clips you choose and works on the copies. Your originals are never edited, moved, or deleted.

Does anything get uploaded?

No. The AI, the speech recognition, and the editing all run on your Mac. The one download is the AI model, about 2.6 GB, fetched once. Nothing of yours goes back the other way.

What can't it do?

It is not a timeline editor. You don't drag clips around. You say what you want and review what it makes. Edits that skip recompression need a QuickTime MOV file, so an MP4 is converted first. And on a recording longer than 15 minutes, telling people apart works on the busiest stretch rather than the whole file.

Is there an iPhone version?

Yes, the same app runs on iPhone, and it is in TestFlight testing now. This page will link to it when it is public.

Make the moments matter.

A few videos and one clear thought are enough. Everything stays on your Mac.
